Photography
My interest in photography began over 20 years ago. I worked commercially for several years, but what I always found most meaningful was an image’s ability to express the unveiled truth of an individual. This lead me to focus my attention on environmental portraiture and explore the diversity and similitude of the human experience. In every individual one can discover the infinite. In every individual one can discover themselves. This is my interest.
Nφva Bφrealis Knives
I began by making a single knife out of an old file and the discarded branch of a plum tree. It was arduous, but the simplicity of the work appealed to me and I was soon scouring antique stores for the oldest files and rasps I could find.
A knife is a simple thing, but the balance of its parts can be delicate and its nuances infinite. Since 2014, I have continued to develop my craft, creating new designs, exploring new techniques, and committing to the highest performing steels I can find.
Nφva Bφrealis Knives is an attempt at balancing form and function, beauty and capability, strength and precision. My hope is that these talismans will not only offer the utility required, but might also aid the user in a more intimate and conscious experience of the wild places they explore.
